I'm asking this a as a genuine question and I don't know the context of the video but shouldn't we wait for the bishop in question to be condemned as heretic before taking such actions ?

    • @seraphimwieber3893
      @seraphimwieber3893 Месяц назад

@@alexmoreau2581Good question! Saint Paul says "After the first or second admonition reject a man that is an heretic". The Church has this as it's formal policy before a council is held. In Greece, the faithful tried to bring the bishops to repentance for 10 years before "walling themselves off". In Russia and the Balkans, since the outward persecution began before the invasion of the traditional structure of the church, this happened much quicker. This is the witness of the Church. If you go through the saints for any day of the year, you will find at least a third of them were not in communion with the "official" "church". Those who preach Ecumenism, Sergianism, and Modernism are anathematized. This means we leave them to God's judgement, and have no communion with them. The saints teach that to commerate a heretic is to share in his heresy. We don't know how God's grace and judgement apply to them. We cannot contaminate the Faith once for all delivered to the saints, preserved to our day.

I know in my own life this has happened. At the time, I was so hurt, but years later, I saw I was being tested. At the time, I was blinded by the constant betrayals and slander. I gave into my hurt feelings and lingered in self-pity. I am week in my own shortsighted understanding. For two decades, I languished. I did pray constantly in secret, crying, pleading with God to help me.
Finally, my youngest son came to me and said he believed that I needed to go to an Orthodox Church. I have been attending and learning a whole new perspective on what living as a Christian is. I have a new struggle now.
I agree with the Prophet Isaiah,
Lo, for my welfare, I had great bitterness, it is You who has kept my soul from the pit of nothingness, for You have cast all my sins behind my Your back.
The only comfort I know is that God has made a way for my sins to be forgiven and my wounds to be healed in his love and mercies. His mercies are for all who seek him and tremble at his word. I pray for myself and for all who suffer, Glory to God for our suffering and hope.

I am a Catholic making the conversion to Orthodoxy. I can tell you that the Orthodox church is as rife with nonsense as the latin one, from the leadership to the church itself. I will follow Jesus and know that men are flawed. I already forgive them but I will not lower my mind to that worldly nonsense. If I see nonsense, I will take my faith inside of myself and out to the poor and needy. I do not need anything or anyone but Jesus. I hope that I chose a good spiritual father. That he teaches me and opens the way for me, regardless of our archbishop which is currently creating much strife. If this fails I will keep working and praying. I wont think ill of him or anyone else, never that.
I am used to being alone. Long ago and forever, I have renounced the world of men. If that is the way then so be it. I pray I can be useful to others.
To anyone in a similar path as myself I say carry on. Dont let them change your commitment. We cant judge others. We can only know our own faults. Focus on that. Learn what you must. Do as you are told. Be obedient to your father. If he is flawed in his teachings then you will know through Christ and the saints. They will show you how to obey without forsaking a servant of God. If any flaws are shown, own them and see them as your own as well and do penance. Christ will write straight with crooked lines. Just focus on your path.
Renounce the world but not each other. Love is Jesus's way.
If this is out of line forgive me. If it is insulting to anyone I apologize. If it seems self centered then so be it, I agree. I am not free from self aggrandizing and these chains are my sin. For that I am sorry
If it rings true though, then listen to your heart. Do not lose faith. We have enough disillusioned Christians going their own way. We dont need more. That would just serve the devils purpose.

You closed your doors and complied with restrictions. You refused to confess Faith and bare Witness. Instead you conceded that gathering in the name of the Lord and partaking in his Blood and Body was less important than state health requirements. You've yet to repent. Spare me with who you call a heretic.

Even though you are slandering, there is nothing in the canons about "closing the doors" as you say. But, much has been said in the canons, the lives of Saints, and the teachings of the Holy Fathers concerning the heretical "hierarchs" that you are affiliated with. The organization of the "World Council of Churches" has its own ecclesiology, and there is no repentance there....

@OrthodoxTradition you're all heretics until you repent for denying Christ. That includes every Bishop in Greece and the Phanar. The truly faithful remained open and took on charges. Cowards make excuses. Αίσχος!

@@OrthodoxTradition argue the points. It was lay people of Greece that rejected many heresies over the centuries. It was lay people that refused to give incense to Caesar and took execution at the hands of Rome. It was lay people that refused to deny Christ in the face of the Turks. Shame on you for thinking we can't see what's obvious. Just repent for not standing for Christ when it was difficult to.

I have to say I find the title intro to this video kind of trite and crass - the ethos of the world - rather than of the Spirit. “Phooey!” It’s obviously not bad language, but it’s that shallow point scoring feel rather than in any way exuding something deep and exalted.

I think the point is that it really is nonsense for anyone to make such claims. The claim itself is crass.

@@stalkek Perhaps it would be good to point out that the Saints sometimes spoke in such a manner to get their messages across. And, the Metropolitan doesn't actually use that word in his sermon, neither is it in the description. I guess it's just on the video screen.

Any time comments aren't disabled on something is this polemical i can only treat it with skepticism, personally. Without having watched the video yet, but having read the comment section carefully, i must make the educated decision that watching this will not do me any favors. If youre gonna be hylerbolic and incessantly polemical, and you stand by what youre trying to say, i think comments should be disabled, so that people can only sit and listen respectfully- by leaving them open, knowing what spirits are likely to manifest here, well i would say you accept a certain complicity in this hot bed of demonic activity that were all wading in and screaming at one another through. In my opinion, forgive me.

Why would you read the comments and not listen to the video? The point of the video is that Saints accepted the GOC.

@esoterico7750 in theory I guess but in practice that's clearly not what's happening, or at least that's only a small part of what is actually happening. In any case most people would probably be better served taking a lot of these questions to their own parish preists, assuming that they do belong to a parish, and if they don't it's probably a wiser choice to go and try to find one than it is to be scrolling screens, right?
